Little Flowers Final Badge Ceremony

It's hard to believe, but today we had our last Little Flowers' meeting. Unfortunately, most of the girls could not make it, due to illnesses. It was great to see those who could.

Little Flowers Meeting

Today, the Little Flowers met at my house. They learned about St. Zita and the virtue of orderliness (or being organized). They enjoyed painting shelves on which to store little statues, pictures, etc.

Little Flowers' Mother/Daughter Tea

Today, we had our Little Flowers' Mother/Daughter Tea. It was our last get together until September and it was wonderful. A dear friend of mine, Rosalie, hosted the tea and it was truly beautiful, but then I wouldn't have expected anything less from my friend. Everything she does reflects the good, the true, and the beautiful. Tables and chairs were set up in her living room for the mothers and their daughters. Each table was set with china tea cups and saucers (Rosalie has taught me to always use the best china with children and they will rise to the occasion). Centerpieces, vases with flowers and silver teapots, sat in the middle of each table. The mothers and girls enjoyed visiting with each other, as they ate cookies and finger fruits, and drank tea or lemonade. During our saint review, the girls shone as they related what they remembered about the saints and the virtues. The mothers and their daughters surprised me with a beautiful tribute from my old co-leader (she had to step down a couple of months ago, due to the birth of her seventh child), a shadowbox that contains a third class St. Therese relic (a dried rose), and a spiritual bouquet. I was so surprised by their gesture that I felt quite speechless. I feel truly blessed to work with these girls and their mothers.

Thank you, dear Mary, for being our role model and thank you, God, for bringing us all together in such a beautiful way!

Little Flowers

Today, we had Little Flowers at our house. This is the third year that I have worked with these girls and I was struck by how much they have grown, by how much they have learned. During snack time, I forgot to have the girls say grace. They all said it, anyway, ending with our traditional, “St. Thérèse, pray for us.” They were very focused on the presentation (this isn’t really new) and on their craft. I am so thankful for the opportunity to work with these girls and I pray that they always practice the virtues they have learned.

Little Flowers St. Therese Meeting

We held our Little Flowers first meeting of the year at Point Defiance once again. The girls colored in a picture of St. Therese, decorated tote bags to hold their binders, ate lunch, sang Marian songs, and visited with each other.

In retrospect, the tote bag should have been a craft that we did during our first year of Little Flowers. Hopefully, next year we will be able to process through the Rose Garden, singing Marian songs again.

May God bless the Little Flowers!
