2009 Read Alouds

My husband read all of the books below to our children, save for the last one.  I read that one for our First Communicant in the spring.

The Small War of Sergeant Donkey by Mary Daly

Big John's Secret (Living History Library) by Eleanore M. Jewett

The Lost Baron by Allen French

Blood Red Crescent Henry Garnett

The King of the Golden City by Mother Mary Loyola

  1. We're in the middle of Seargeant Donkey right now, it's a lighter WWII book which is nice :) What age range does it say for Lost Baron, I'd maybe like for Matthias to read on his own??? Thanks sweetie!! Happy Feast tomorrow!

  2. The book appealed to my children, ages 8 to 11 (at the time). The 8-year-old read some of it to himself, but I think that it would be better suited for a ten-year-old to read on his own (this is also Bethlehem Books' recommendation). The book is definitely heavier than The Small War of Sergeant Donkey.
